Ditkamania: Day Five

Now it’s a top story in the major Chicago papers.

For the record, I don’t have any idea whether Da Coach would make a good senator, or even candidate, but as promised, Ditkamania is already fun to watch. Check out this exchange of quotes, first from Ditka:

“I am very conservative, and a lot of people aren’t going to like that. I am very outspoken and a lot of people aren’t going to like that, but that’s me. So if they don’t like me they vote for the other guy.”

… and then from Democratic nominee Barack Obama:

“He would give me pause if I was meeting him on the football field,” said Obama, 42. “Even though he is older than me, he looks pretty tough. I can take him on the basketball court. And I’m convinced I can sing ‘Take Me Out to the Ball Game’ better than him.”
