Samantha Power Rails Against Iranian Regime She Once Helped Bail Out

Samantha Power, Barack Obama’s former UN ambassador, took to Twitter late Sunday to condemn Iran’s Islamic regime for slaughtering civilians — the same regime she once provided cover for to help push through Obama’s disastrous nuclear deal.

It was Power, you might recall, who went to Congress in 2015 urging them not to pursue sanctions against the regime, which had previously gone on a civilian killing spree on Obama’s watch in 2009. She said at the time, “Some members of Congress believe that the time has come to ratchet up sanctions on Iran. They argue that this is the most effective way to achieve the goal of getting Iran to give up its nuclear program. We in the administration believe that, at this time, increasing sanctions would dramatically undermine our efforts to reach this shared goal.”

Obama did eventually sign a deal with Tehran, but never submitted it to the Senate for approval. Under the broad outlines of the agreement, the U.S. would reduce existing sanctions, and release billions of Iran’s dollars (frozen since 1979) in exchange for weak promises to do a better job of hiding their nuclear program.

Between the pallets of cash delivered to Tehran in the middle of the night — probably in violation of U.S. law — and the relaxation of sanctions, Iran renewed its imperialist ambitions in the Middle East. From Yemen to Syria to Iraq, the mullahs used Obama’s largess to wage war and commit acts of terrorism.

Power had told Congress that it would be easy to place Iran back under renewed sanctions, but then balked when President Trump did just that.

No, seriously. Power, who warned when Trump exited the Iran Deal last year, “Trump has demolished America’s credibility & paved the way for Iran to re-start its nuclear program. Trump has done the unthinkable: isolated the US & rallied the world around Iran.”

Yes, we’re so weak and isolated that our economy is in freefall and our cities are in chaos and the military is slaughtering civilians in the streets.

No, wait — that’s Iran, not us.

This is also the same Samantha Power who reportedly “sought to unmask Americans on an almost daily basis.” Bret Baier reported in 2017:

Samantha Power, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, was “unmasking” at such a rapid pace in the final months of the Obama administration that she averaged more than one request for every working day in 2016 – and even sought information in the days leading up to President Trump’s inauguration, multiple sources close to the matter told Fox News.

Two sources, who were not authorized to speak on the record, said the requests to identify Americans whose names surfaced in foreign intelligence reporting, known as unmasking, exceeded 260 last year. One source indicated this occurred in the final days of the Obama White House.

Maybe I’m just paranoid, but that looks an awful lot like Deep State meddling, which makes Power seem sinister on top of being wrong about almost everything.

It isn’t that Power is wrong when she says that “every outlet in the world should publicize how the murderous Iranian regime is mowing down protesters.” It’s just that she’s wrong about everything else, including just how that murderous regime prospered thanks to the aid and comfort given by her and her boss.
