It might be a fail for the Settled Law of the Land™, but it’s a great big win for Congressional hypocrisy. Phil Kerpen explains:
Phil Kerpen, president of American Commitment, tells Newsmax that members of Congress have “basically committed fraud” by claiming to be a small business in order to continue to provide healthcare for themselves with taxpayer dollars.
“They filed false documents to get around the requirement in the Obamacare law that they lose their previous insurance coverage and go into the exchanges like everyone else,” Kerpen told John Bachman on “Newsmax Now” on Newsmax TV Monday. “That was something the American people had demanded.”
“When it actually came time for it to happen, members of Congress of both parties didn’t want to do it. They didn’t want to lose taxpayer funding for their premiums for themselves and their staff,” he said.
It’s not just fraud — it’s fraud to escape expenses the rest of us can’t escape. And it isn’t just the hypocrisy — it’s hypocrisy of the GOP whose official position is to repeal ♡bamaCare!!!.
The GOP is playing with fire. We’re nearing the point where the national party might as well officially fuse with the Democrats (Democratic-Republicans, anyone?) and let a real second party take its place on the national stage.
