Actress Greta Gerwig has been cast as the lead role in CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off, “How I Met Your Dad.”

Gerwig will play the lead role of Sally, a New Yorker in her late twenties in search of “the one.”

Unlike Josh Radnor’s Ted, she will be married in the pilot episode but will come to realize she has nothing in common with her new husband.

Sally will use the help of her friends and family as she embarks on the single life.

How I Met Your Mother was a cute show and I watched the first three or four seasons. Occasionally someone will send me a YouTube link to a Barney routine I’d missed, which is always good for a smile.

But this new show strikes me as just more evidence of Hollywood’s creative bankruptcy.
