Fill it to the RIM -- With Fail

I hope the President figures out how to use an iPhone or an Android before too long, because his BlackBerry isn’t far from being an orphaned product:

“Our sell-through checks in the United States indicate that BlackBerry sales were largely unchanged in August versus July; however, we detected meaningfully lower inventory levels versus a month ago,” Faucette explains. “In terms of sell-through, we believe that current run rates are roughly one-fifth of those we saw in the United States just eight months ago. Further, we found a meaningful number of carrier retail locations which had not sold a single BlackBerry in over a month.”[Emphasis added for emphatic emphasis]

RIM’s new BlackBerry phones will miss the all-important holiday sales quarter, delayed (yet again) into early(ish?) 2013. Apple will announce the new iPhone today, and start taking orders within 48 hours.

H/T, Gruber, who adds that that’s “crickets-chirping territory.”

Crickets? It’s a funeral dirge.
