Where have all the Obama voters gone? Long time passing:

A new poll shows that President Obama is losing nine percent of his 2008 supporters to Mitt Romney..

Gallup finds that 86 percent of 2008 Obama voters say they plan to vote for the president again. Nine percent, however, say they’re now supporting Romney.

On the other hand, 92 percent of John McCain voters say they’re supporting Mitt Romney. Five percent of those McCain voters are now voting for Obama.

That’s a net shift of four percent of the electorate moving away from Obama.

Now, I’m no math whiz, but let’s take a look at the numbers from 2008.

McCain – 45.7%
Obama – 52.9%

Move the decimal, carry the… Hmmm… I get 52.9 – 4 = 48.9. That sound about right to you?

However discomforting that might seem to Team Obama, they have another, bigger worry. The 2012 electorate will not be the same as the 2012 electorate. Hopenchange is gone. The Tea Party is here. That four-point net-shift could be magnified, perhaps significantly, by which voters show up in November.
