Here’s Hillary’s first hard example of “taking things away from you” for your own benefit:

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.

The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC’s “This Week,” she said: “I think there are a number of mechanisms” that are possible, including “going after people’s wages, automatic enrollment.”

When I was a young man first out on my own, I usually had no health insurance. I was young, I was healthy, and I hardly ever took any stupid risks. I paid for routine care (aspirin, Nyquil, cigarettes) out of pocket.

And I’ll tell you something. Working in small-market radio, I couldn’t afford to have my wages garnished. Usually, I couldn’t afford to put more than ten bucks of gas in my car at once. Hillary’s “plan” would have forced me on welfare.

Or is that the whole idea?
