Posting from the laptop this time — and, man, do we have problems over here. Also, we have house guests coming tomorrow. Add to that the fact that I’ve got two columns past due, and you can bet the blog is going to suffer.
Meantime, I’m trying to figure out how to recover some lost data, but I won’t go into those details.
Just a few short notes to all of you who offered such useful advice in the Comments to the last post.
I’m not buying a Mac. Oh, I might someday — but Melissa is getting a new computer before I will. The poor thing is still using a P-3 800. So to all of you suggesting I just run out and dump three grand (plus software), I can only say: Fine, gimme the cash.
I’m not switching to LINUX, UNIX, Commodore 64, or Altair. I have better things to do with my time, such as performing experiments to determine exactly how many thumbtacks I can put in my eyes.
To sum up: Unless you’re willing to cut me a check for one of those sweet new Apple G5s, I’m not in the market for computer advice. Just bear with me while I got things working again over here, OK?
