Then there’s this story:

The Chrysler group and Mitsubishi are talking about sharing derivatives of the Dodge minivan and Durango SUV with Mitsubishi dealers in the United States.

The move would mark a deepening of ties among DaimlerChrysler AG companies and affiliates. Mitsubishi is scheduled to sell a version of the Dodge Dakota pickup in 2005.

You might not remember (or know), but back in the 80s, there was a time when Chrysler’s manufacturing skills had so degraded that Mitsubishi was building Rams for Dodge. How times have changed.
