From USA Today:

Iraq said on Sunday it was ready to receive a U.S. delegation to discuss the fate of an American pilot shot down over Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War.

Meanwhile, Saddam Hussein makes other noises about possibly letting UN weapons inspectors return to his country.

What’s going on here? Is Saddam suddenly playing nice? Of course not. We went through this same routine in late ’90/early ’91, as Hussein tried to talk his way out of Gulf War I. All Saddam had to do to avoid war then was pull out of Kuwait — which he was too stupid to do.

All he has to do to avoid war this time, is drop dead.
