Reviews coming in of We Were Soldiers are uniformly good (pun only somewhat intended).

I read the book a few years back. The full title is We Were Soldiers Once… And Young. I wish they’d kept it for the movie. You see, I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but those six words conveyed to me, the civilian, something of the real horror of war. The heartbreak. The robber of youth.

Or at least that’s what I thought before reading the book itself. Powerful stuff.

If you know history, you know how it ends. But go see the movie anyway. And then go read the book.
