If COVID taught you nothing else, it was that once you are jumped by the We Know Better Than You Mob you'd better figure out how to extricate yourself before things become very, very nasty.
During COVID, some people lost their jobs. Others had their professional reputations maliciously libeled by closed-minded scolds. I, like others, had forgotten to bring my barely-there mask to the store and was encircled—first by clerks I knew, then by customers.
Encircled.
I was in the process of checking out when I realized I'd forgotten the Draino and rushed back to get it when the mob found me as I was literally reaching for my one last item.
They were perfectly comfortable encircling someone they'd waited on for years. It didn't matter that I'd be in the store just minutes longer. I wasn't wearing a mask. Sacrilege!
Certainly, I thought if they wouldn't let me grab the item then surely they would turn around and grab it for me. Nope. The mob mocked me (they thought), spewed hatred, and hectored me with shaking forefingers and screeching epithets until I left the store for my very last time. It was an embarrassment. Not for me, but for them. I was ashamed of them on behalf of their future selves.
I'd seen Occupy, Antifa, and BLM mobs howling at the moon, breaking things, and setting fire to other people's property, but this was the first time I began to understand how the unthinking mob chose Barabbas. Logic, sense, and humanity disapparated. Violence would be next.
What do you do, however, if the entire city government apparatus is under ideological capture?
That's what's going on in Minneapolis, Portland, Seattle, and other ostensibly woke cities that cling to their idea of moral authority though their moral compass sits at the bottom of an Amazon box pile.
I reported in I"nsurrection: Bombshell Email Shows How Minneapolis City Employees Are Instructed to Work Against ICE" that an official email sent out by someone who has control over the entire email listserv for city employees urged Minneapolis city employees to inform on and urge anti-ICE groups to encircle federal officers in the city who are arresting bonafide bad guys. The email promised that city employees would do everything to impede the feds and listed several ways in which they would do this.
My previous story contains the entire email, but here's a part of it that I thought you'd find interesting.
"Guiding City staff on how to respond if ICE activity is reported, and how to protect residents' rights and safety. This reference guide outlines what City employees should do if you encounter ICE agents while on the job," the instructions encourage. The second sentence is a link to an employee handbook where instructions are given on how to get around the feds. That much is self-explanatory. The copy of the email sent to all employees that I saw, however, is a static document and doesn't include a live link.
They were encouraging their employees to inform on ICE officers and encircle them, stop them, hector them, and, who knows, commit acts of violence against them, like hitting them with their cars, or a shovel, or a broom handle.
This weekend, a stunned federal agent in Minneapolis told the mob forming to impede his operation, "I'm going to arrest a child sex offender. And you're protecting him. Insanity."
Of course they ignored his sensible concerns. He should have saved his breath. They don't care about the truth.
