Fulton County, Ga., District Attorney Fani Willis has some explaining to do for allegedly hiring a man she was sleeping with to be the top prosecutor of Donald Trump. That's the claim against Willis by Donald Trump's lawyers. This conflict of interest could get her and her very special prosecutor tossed from the case. Now cellphone data has been uncovered appearing to show the two speaking hundreds of times before they testified they'd started dating. The evidence also suggests the two engaged in some very late nights.
As Matt explains nearby, both Willis and her paramour Nathan Wade testified under oath last week at the wild two-day hearing that their affair didn't start until 2022 after he'd been hired to prosecute the Trump RICO case. The defense contends that Wade was hired after they started dating and that Willis personally benefited from the nearly $700,000 she paid him for his special prosecution on multiple vacations, cruises, and trips to Napa Valley. Both denied they had misspent state and county funds. Willis claimed she paid Wade back for her vacation expenses in cash.
And never, ever would she violate ethical canon to engage in a booty call.
Except not. According to a cellphone investigator for Donald Trump's lawyers, there were 2,000 voice phone calls and 12,000 text messages in 2021, the year they claimed they weren't dating. Fani's former friend, at whose home she was staying, testified last week that the two were romantically entangled starting in 2019. If either of these testimonies is true, then Fani and Nathan Wade have been caught lying in court. There's a word for that: perjury. In the old days before wokeism that was disqualifying.
The late-night trysts are especially telling. A "heat map" was established using CellHawk analysis to geofence both Willis's and Wade's addresses. It showed late-night travel to Willis's place and then Wade leaving at Oh-Dark-30 in the morning. In 2021. When they claim not to be dating.
Because it wasn't an exhaustive study of all their alleged trysts, the investigator was asked by defense lawyers to capture data on two specific dates. For example, on Sept. 11-12, 2021, the data showed that Wade's phone traveled from his location at 10:45 p.m. to Willis's location, where it stayed until 3:28 a.m., "at which time the phone traveled" back and pinged towers near Wade's East Cobb home, arriving at 4:05 a.m. He texted Willis minutes later at 4:20 a.m.
On another night when they claimed they weren't dating, on Nov. 29, 2021, Fani made a call to Wade's phone at 11:32 p.m., and he talked with her in the car on the way to her house. He arrived at 12:43 a.m. on Nov. 30, 2021, and his phone was there until 4:55 a.m. They used to call these booty calls.
Judge Scott McAfee must now decide if he'll kick the district attorney and special prosecutor off this dumb case. The judge has also recalled Wade's best friend, who possesses one of the most amazingly bad memories and for whom any information he could recall he designated as privileged.
You'll recall that Terrence Bradley said that talking about when his friend and former client started seeing Fani Willis is protected by attorney-client privilege. We thought attorney-client privilege was so passé.
Wasn't it just a year ago when other leftist lawfare lawyers successfully got a D.C. federal judge to pierce the attorney-client privilege between Donald Trump and his lawyers in the classified documents case? Why yes, yes, it was. And that was for a president, not a booty-calling boo.
