Trump Insists 'Not One Person' Has Left — as People Are Walking out of His CPAC Speech

OXON HILL, Md. — As President Trump wound down his speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), people began to leave. The president had been speaking for about two hours, so some people had had enough. Sadly, Trump suggested it would be “fake news” for reporters to say anyone had left.

“And by the way, I’m watching those doors, not one person’s left, and I’ve been up here a long time,” Trump said. “So, if you hear tomorrow when [the headlines] read, ‘people left,’ nobody left early.”

The president added, “When you read it, you just say ‘fake news!'”

However, even as he was speaking, people were leaving through the doors a bit further back from the stage:

Perhaps no one left through the doors closest to the stage, but people were indeed leaving.

Trump got in many digs against the “fake news” during his speech, and most were very good, but in this case, he was the one in the wrong.
