'PussyHats' and the Real War on Women

It’s called the Pussyhat Project. You read that right. Women are knitting pink pussyhats to wear during the Women’s March on Washington, D.C., on January 21 to protest the presidency of Donald Trump.

The women’s “movement” is being touted as a way to provide protesters “a means to make a unique visual statement which will help activists be better heard” and to “provide people who cannot physically be on the National Mall a way to represent themselves and support women’s rights.”

Oddly, women who typically shun female stereotypes are embracing knitting and crocheting to make their voices heard. In a statement that would make any sex-positivist feminist cringe, these women say they find the “traditional” knitting world appealing because “these circles are powerful gatherings of women, a safe space to talk, a place where women support women.” Will they be baking cookies next? Will the kitchen become a new “safe space”?

As for the use of a “pussyhat,” feminists are famous for turning pejorative terms into proud labels (a common tactic to counter stigma). Most famous is their embrace of the term slut, which morphed into SlutWalks, international marches to end the rape culture. So this is just one more attempt to “reclaim” a derogatory term “as a means of empowerment.” I’m surprised none of them has co-opted the GOP acronym to stand for Grab Our Pussies. Of course, it’s only a matter of time.

But this isn’t just about women per se; the Mad PussyHatters couldn’t resist bringing a good dose of intersectionality into the fray, stating:

In this day and age, if we have pussies we are assigned the gender of “woman.” Women, whether transgender or cisgender, are mistreated in this society. In order to get fair treatment, the answer is not to take away our pussies, the answer is not to deny our femaleness and femininity, the answer is to demand fair treatment. A woman’s body is her own. We are honoring this truth and standing up for our rights.

Well, as far as I know the only people wanting to take away pussies are transgender men (women who reject their vaginas for a faux penis). And the only people who typically deny femaleness and femininity are feminists themselves who have been hell-bent for decades to make women just like men, defeminizing them to the point that there are very little sexual distinctions or femininity.

As for “assigning gender,” our gender (which is tied to our SEX) is not “assigned.” We are born either male or female. Whether we want to choose to act like men and women is our personal choice. But transgenderism isn’t merely about the aesthetic of sex; it’s about actually changing sex through physical alterations and mutilations. For those rejecting their femininity and femaleness, this is a greater attack on women than any policies proposed by the GOP.

While modern feminists (though not first-wave feminists) have done more to undermine women’s happiness and independence than any dreaded conservative on the right, they have turned their sexuality into a peep show. They just love donning genitalia costumes, while showing little respect for their actual genitalia.

Just consider: the sexual revolution has reduced women to act like men when it comes to sex, increasing relational instability and exposing women to health risks (women are more at risk than men to get STDs); the product of their sexual choices — babies — are ripped from their wombs, causing more damage to their bodies than actually birthing their babies (not to mention the number of baby girls who are killed); haphazard use of birth control pills has increased infertility as well as other side effects detrimental to women; the embrace of radical Islam in the name of tolerance ignores countless women who have their genitalia mutilated in the name of honor; and now, transgenderism, which is really a denial of a person’s true sex, seeks to either remove female genitalia altogether or allow for men to pretend that a gaping wound between their legs is, in fact, a real vagina, a mockery to women everywhere.

Thanks, ladies. You really are on the front lines of protecting women’s pussies!

As for the knitted pussyhats in the shape of cat ears to represent their genitalia, well, liberal women just love to objectify themselves in the name of empowerment. Remember the vagina costumes worn by Code Pink outside the Republican Convention in 2012? The lead from the story says it all: “Giant, walking vaginas have descended upon the Republican National Convention.”

I’d say giant, walking vaginas have descended on our culture in general. Women wearing vagina costumes and pussyhats are demanding that the GOP “Respect Women!” How ironic from people who clearly don’t respect themselves. They’re the ones who have reduced women to their genitalia, not the GOP. They’re the ones who make political decisions, not based on what promotes individual liberty and protects our real rights as American citizens, but on what will protect their “right” to abortion on demand and free contraception. Sexual “freedom” has replaced political liberty as women have become enslaved to a big-government, statist mindset in the name of “women’s rights.”

The PussyHat Project and this new “women’s movement” in response to the Trump presidency is about a group of statist women wanting to remain relevant in a culture that has rejected their self-destructive form of feminism. The Vagina Monologues have become an irritating drone. Women who don pussyhats and vagina costumes want their sexuality, their femininity to be respected. But what is more disrespectful than reducing your own identity to your genitalia?

I know, I know. They’ll say they’re not, that they’re actually mocking men who see women only as sex objects. That might have been true in the distant past, but after decades of women making political decisions — even those that are hurtful to women socially, physically, and economically — solely on the basis of their sexual choices (abortion and free contraception), the truth is they have become the monster they say they’re fighting. Women have sold their souls for sexual liberty, which isn’t liberty at all but a licentious libertinism that dehumanizes women and flies in the face of their true femininity.
