GQ Trump Headline Should Be Nominee for 'Correction of the Year'

GQ used to be all about men’s style. It had the best clothes, the best accessories, the best haircuts, everything. It was the magazine a guy would read if he wanted to be the ultimate well-dressed man. Sure, you probably couldn’t afford the stuff in the magazine, but it at least gave you something to shoot for.

Somewhere along the way, GQ went the same direction of so many other magazines — they thought they needed to be politically Left in order to remain relevant. The problem is that a fashion magazine is staffed by people who maybe aren’t up to the task of political commentary.

GQ currently has this headline up:

Why the update?

Edit: An earlier version of this article used a headline noting that Trump had publicly called for the death penalty in the New York attack, but not the Las Vegas shooting in particular. That discrepancy is probably related to the fact that the Las Vegas shooter is dead. We regret the error.

Seriously, how? It’s not like the two tragedies were separated by a great deal of time. Hell, they were in the same month, for crying out loud. Las Vegas happened on October 1 while the New York attack happened on October 31. Yeah, it was a longer month than normal, but only by a day, for crying out loud.

I mean, how can you forget that the gunman killed himself less than a month earlier? I mean, that was kind of an important part of the story. It’s why we know his name but aren’t worried about a trial or him doing anything else. Dead people tend to have a low rate of recidivism.

But GQ managed to forget all about that as they penned their headline. They wanted to lash out at Trump because he wants a terrorist to face the death penalty for mowing down eight people with a truck. In the process, they forced one of the most hilarious corrections in journalistic history.

As RedState noted:

These ladies and gentlemen are your self-appointed elites. The people you should listen to. The big-brained thinkers who would rule you. In short, this is why you have Trump.

Pretty much.

And people wonder why so few take the mainstream media seriously anymore.
