“Fred was one of the only people that I’ve met who was truly a renaissance man,” creator Dick Wolf said in a statement. “Prosecutor, politician, actor, raconteur — no matter what he did, he did it incredibly well. And he was simply a great guy. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.”
Not only was Thompson one of the more beloved Republicans of recent decades, he also dispelled the notion that it is impossible for conservatives to be successful in Hollywood. True, the entertainment industry is not exactly friendly territory for conservatives, but that doesn’t mean we should abandon it. I’ve met too many over the years who use the industry’s leftward bent as a self-defeating excuse rather than the motivation it should be for a real conservative.
This country could use a few more Constitution loving renaissance types.
