The Democrats want to defeat Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell. How bad? This bad. The speaker of the state House, state Rep. Greg Stumbo, hyperventilated that defeating McConnell is every bit as vital as liberation of Europe from Hitler’s Third Reich.
“It reminded me of the feeling our troops must have had when they liberated the European nations after World War II,” Stumbo said at an event to promote McConnell’s Democratic challenger, KY Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes. “Can you imagine what it felt like to know that you were liberating a country?”
“Well, you’re about to liberate your state from the worst reign of misabuse that we’ve seen in the last 30 years,” he said.
“Misabuse” is not a word. McConnell is not the state’s governor. He represents it in the Senate, in which he is in the minority.
Expect Stumbo to offer an insincere apology, along the lines of “I’m sorry if you were offended,” later this evening.
