Gun Manufacturer Welcomed With Open Arms After Fleeing Connecticut For South Carolina

Be kind to your tax base.

From beat cops to cashiers to Gov. Nikki Haley, South Carolina’s newest gun manufacturer has received an “absolutely tremendous” amount of support since leaving Connecticut for The Palmetto State, according to the firm’s CEO.

Josh Fiorini, CEO of PTR Industries, formerly of Bristol., Conn., told that the firm’s new facility in Aynor, S.C., remains a week away from production, but 11 local employees began sorting inventory on Monday along with a team of training personnel from Connecticut. The manufacturer of military-style rifles announced in April that it intended to leave Bristol following the passage of gun-control legislation after the shooting deaths of 26 people, including 20 children, at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown.

One of the biggest disconnects in a political philosophy that is built on them is the liberal penchant for being hostile to the very entities from which they need to bleed revenue for their statist aims. This happens at all levels of government. Connecticut and gun makers may not be a relationship that you would be surprised to see go sour in this fashion, but Los Angeles has been driving away its core industry for decades now.

Whether it be through hyper-regulation or onerous taxation, which tend to work in tandem but don’t always have to, liberal zealots in government always seem to be operating on the belief that a magic money tree that will never die exists somewhere in the universe.

The end game for them, of course, is to make sure there are no business-friendly havens to flee to. They haven’t really worked out how THE RICH are supposed to remain healthy in perpetuity beyond that point.
