'Unexpected' Jobless Numbers-Time For MSM To Get A Thesaurus

Shocking no one but those who report on this kind of thing regularly

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last week, but not enough to suggest a shift in the recent pattern of modest job gains.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 354,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Claims for the prior week were revised to show 4,000 more applications received than previously reported.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected first-time applications to hold steady at 340,000 last week.

Bless their ignorant little hearts, but if we can’t get the MSM and their pet economists to understand that something which happens repeatedly can be expected, shouldn’t we at least get them help with new ways to express their surprise?

At least a silver lining was provided for the non-thinking voters: the “modest job gains” in an economy that desperately needs something more than modest are safe.

For now.

Who knows what to expect?
