Not to be missed is the riveting read – The Yankee Comandante – in the current The New Yorker. Writer David Grann narrates the incredible life of William Alexander Morgan, an American who began as a volunteer for Castro’s revolution in the mountains of Cuba, became one of the two non-Cuban comandantes (the other was Che) and ended up having his head blown off by one of the dictator’s firing squads. But that’s not even the half of it. It’s worth spending an hour with this incredible story – part Ken Kesey, part Godfather II.
