Jennifer Lawrence, Hunger Games Star: 'Screw PETA'

I put this story in headlines, then realized I was missing a golden opportunity to hook a post into the hottest movie on the planet and the star of that movie, Jennifer Lawrence. It turns out that the knockout young star of the mega hit The Hunger Games (and X-Men: First Class) has not yet been captured by Hollywood’s political correctness.

Move over Kim Kardashian, PETA has set itself a new challenge – The Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence.

Lawrence has ticked off the animal rights organisation – formally known as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – after she opened up about her squirrel-skinning scene from Winter’s Bone, the 2010 movie which earned her a Best Actress Oscar nomination.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine (via E! News), Lawrence reveals that the scene where she had to gut a squirrel was authentic, and not faked for the cameras.

“I should say it wasn’t real, for PETA,” she told the mag. “But screw PETA.”

PETA whined, quoted Thoreau, and pointed out that a bunch of Hollywood liberals love them some PETA. Everybody knows that, so who cares? But Lawrence went out of her way to offer up yet another quote that liberals are likely to hate.

Later in the Rolling Stone interview, Lawrence revealed that when she finishes lensing her next movie, she plans on “buying a house. And a big dog. And a shotgun.”

Jennifer Lawrence sounds like a Texan. She is from Kentucky. Close enough, culturally.
