Idiotarian Headline of the Day

It comes to us from the Associated Press. It reads:

French suspect showed no signs of militant leanings

The only way that headline works is if you discount the following: That Mohammed Merah described himself as a Salafist; he subscribed to al Qaeda’s point of view and invoked the terrorist group during his negotiations with police; he traveled to the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan and attended al Qaeda terrorist training there; and then went back to France to wage a one-man jihad. The French government had him on a watch list, and the US had him on a no-fly list.

Other than that, sure, he showed no signs of “militant leanings.”
