Post-partisan president actually very polarizing president

Well, he was the most liberal senator during his brief tenure there. So, yeah, we could’ve seen this coming.

President Barack Obama’s job approval ratings were even more polarized during his second year in office than during his first, when he registered the most polarized ratings for a first-year president. An average of 81% of Democrats and 13% of Republicans approved of the job Obama was doing as president during his second year. That 68-point gap in party ratings is up from 65 points in his first year and is easily the most polarized second year for a president since Dwight Eisenhower.

This is hardly surprising.  Let me know if I leave out a few things, but this is the president who manically pursued a sharply divisive and unpopular health care bill while the economy burned, this is the president who used the “stimulus” to pay off union cronies out of the national treasury, this is the president who sicced the EPA on Texas while using the Gulf oil spill to ban offshore oil drilling (and then defying the courts when they ruled against him).  This president’s administration shut down car dealerships all over the country, many under suspicious circumstances, and handed ownership of the bailed out car manufacturers over to the unions. This is the president whose DoJ is suing Arizona for trying to bring order to its border with Mexico, while telling one group of Americans to “punish their enemies,” with those “enemies” being other Americans — all while he still can’t quite bring himself to name what motivated Maj. Hasan to murder American troops and civilians at Ft. Hood. This president hears the voices of protesters in Egypt, while he allows leaders in his party to deride Tea Party protesters here in the United States. This president’s entire foreign policy amounts to “I’m not Bush,” which is by its nature polarizing.  This president fetes a dictatorship’s head with a state dinner, after openly and repeatedly disrespecting our closest allies. This president has gone on an international apology tour, constantly and literally bowing to foreign heads of state while talking endlessly about America’s “mistakes.”

Simply put, this president’s ideology truly represents about 20% of the country, and he seems to find a way nearly daily to remind us of that.
