Useless Squish McConnell Slams Trump Using Dem Media Lie About 'Immigrants'

In my over two decades of studying and writing about left-wing bias in the mainstream media, I have spent a lot of time focusing on deft and subtle employment of euphemism. It may not seem sexy, but it's one of the more important aspects of how the Left gets away with things.

Euphemism has long been one of the most powerful weapons in the leftmedia arsenal for the creation and perpetuation of narratives. The most infamous of all is probably "pro-choice," which was first used to make it seem as if they weren't only talking about abortion. That was in a time when Democrats were trying to be coy about their lust for abortion. If the people on the Right who say that Republicans didn't do well in last year's midterms because of abortion (I'm not one of them) are correct, it's because the Left put "pro-choice" into common usage lo those many years ago.

More recently, Democrats and their flying monkeys in the mainstream media have guided the transition from "illegal immigrants" to "undocumented immigrants" to "immigrants" and to, finally, just plain "migrants."

This may be one of their smoother moves yet. It has been a long time since they successfully stigmatized the word "illegal" in the public discourse about immigration. The word "immigrants" still has a connection to "illegal immigrants," however, so it ultimately had to go. "Migrants" is meant to eventually make the short attention span public forget that we ever used to talk about "illegal immigrants."

Trust me, that's how this works.

That transition isn't complete just yet, but they'll get there soon.

One of the ways that they change the aforementioned public discourse is by getting a generous assist from idiot Republican elected officials, especially the ones in Washington.

I could provide myriad examples of this problem, but this is a column, not a book. The most recent and irritating example comes from the Head Squish in Charge in the United States Senate, Mitch McConnell.

The New York Times:

When Mitch McConnell, the top Republican in the Senate, was asked about former President Donald J. Trump’s now-standard stump line claiming that immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country,” Senator McConnell delivered an indirect but contemptuous response.

“Well, it strikes me it didn’t bother him when he appointed Elaine Chao secretary of transportation,” Mr. McConnell, the Senate minority leader, said. Ms. Chao, who was born in Taiwan and immigrated to America as a child, is married to Mr. McConnell.

The opening line is a lie that is then used to beat up Trump for the entire column.

Trump was referencing illegal immigrants, as he has from the day he came down the escalator in 2015. Even the Times article that the author links to admits that.

McConnell knew that but went along with the lie anyway, thinking that he was clever. His wife didn't come here illegally. Ever the useless Beltway Uniparty errand boy McConnell couldn't wait to please his media masters and pile on Trump over a complete falsehood.

With friends like these...well, you know.

For the most part, Beltway Capitol Hill Club "Harumph" Republicans are terrified of having the New York Times say anything mean about them. It was that way long before Donald Trump rose to power in Washington. Like so many festering problems with leftists and their Republican enablers, it's gotten exponentially worse.

Because he is a successful writer, freshman Senator J.D. Vance understands the power of words better than the McConnell types. Here's what he had to say:

Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio said it was “objectively and obviously true” that “illegal immigrants were poisoning the blood of the country.” He also scolded the reporter who asked him about Mr. Trump’s remarks, accusing her of using Mr. Trump’s words to try to “narrow the limits of debate on immigration in this country.”

I would take that final remark a step further and say that they're trying to kill all debate on immigration.

Perhaps Mitch McConnell is chafing at the fact that his most conservative time in office was while Trump was president. It went against his nature and now he's got issues with that brief period in his life. I've written on many occasions that I am convinced that McConnell not only wouldn't mind if the GOP were permanently in the minority in Washington, but is actively working to achieve that goal.

At this point in history, any Republican official who cozies up to the New York Times is working just as hard as the Democrats to destroy the Republic. We're heading into an election year and the most powerful Republican in the Senate is not only undermining the GOP primary frontrunner, but feeding into an insane leftist narrative about the border crisis.

Heaven save us from Republicans who only care about being invited to the right Washington dinners.
