Calgon, Take Them Away
Heaven save us from these deranged progressive statists.
I didn’t watch all of Round 3, I went back to my old ways and let Twitter and my PJ Media colleagues watch it for me. Doing that gives me a good way to assess which candidates are resonating and who’s getting the most favorable buzz.
I did, however, tune in every now and then, immediately regretting the decision each time.
Each time I did, I saw a different candidate explain why the federal government needed to intervene in my life in order to make it “better.” Suffice it to say that I was not moved by the sales pitch.
My reactions will follow, but for those of you who want to skip ahead to the links, my friend Kira Davis summed it up fairly well:
Ok, just to catch you up…@TheDemocrats want to give free education, housing and healthcare to ex-felons and illegal immigrants and forcibly remove the legally, peacefully purchased firearms of millions of law-abiding citizens. Inspired yet? #DemDebate

Here are a few takeaways from what I saw in the debate and from the reaction.
1: Kamala who?
Kamala Harris had all the momentum after Round 1 in June. She’s barely an afterthought now. There was a tiny amount of buzz about her opening statement, then you might have thought she left the stage as soon as she finished it, given the lack of social media talk about her after that.
2: It’s OK to call Crazy Joe the Wonder Veep old and senile now.
Julián Castro took a less-than-veiled dig at Uncle Joe’s memory. Castro needed something to make him stand out and his implication that Biden may have some age-related recall issues did the trick for him. No one is talking about Castro’s policy issues, but this insult of his is getting plenty of post-debate play.
Cory Booker backed up Castro, adding:
“There are definitely moments when you listen to Joe Biden and you just wonder,” he said.
A lot of us have been there for years, Senator Booker. Years.
3: Horse Mouth dips into the Nazi playbook.
He’s got one play now:
Hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15.

He did inspire me though:
All the proceeds from my next book will go to the monthly purchase of an AR-15 until the presidential election. https://t.co/ESVw0NV8MI

4: Mayor Pete is the biggest panderer in the field:
Since it didn’t come up in tonight’s #DemDebate, at this moment when women’s reproductive freedom is under attack, I wanted to say I trust women to make their own decisions about their health. It’s important we all keep taking about it.

5: Biden’s most lucid moment.
One of the times I did tune in I caught Biden doing his no-filter Biden thing. He was explaining that parents don’t know what to do and they need social workers to help them, and that when that help is done, the kids need to be indoctrinated by public school teachers at a very early age.
That is, of course, what the Democrats’ plan has been for decades (I wrote a book about it); they usually prefer to be more coy about it.
Recapping, briefly:
They don’t want you armed and able to protect yourself.
They don’t want you taking care of your children.
They don’t want you making your own decisions about your healthcare.
They want you to pay more in taxes for the privilege of losing your freedoms.
What’s not to like?
Oh yeah, everything.
If one of these nimrods becomes president I’m going to wish the climate was killing us.
I need a stiff link.
