Bernie Sanders could pull off a big win in next week’s California primary, with a new poll showing him ahead by 1 percentage point.
A USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll released Thursday evening shows Sanders leading with 44 percent to Clinton’s 43 percent.
Sanders’ 1-point lead falls within the poll’s margin of error.
California’s primary is open to independent voters that give Sanders a boost; among registered Democrats, Clinton still leads Sanders by 4 points, while Sanders has 50 percent support from independents to Clinton’s 34 percent.
But, the poll found, Clinton has a 10-point lead among those likely to vote next week, primarily due to support from older voters.
Sanders has continued to close the gap between him and Clinton and has been campaigning hard across the state.
Here in West L.A. and Santa Monica, the Bernie support is overwhelming. I rarely run into Hillary supporters, or even see her bumper stickers. Bernie stickers are plastered all over seemingly every fourth $70,000 vehicle though.
Sanders has been doing a full-court press in California the last few weeks, and I’ve seen his people out registering voters quite a bit. Hillary may have an edge with older and establishment Democrats, but if Bernie can mount any kind of get-out-the-vote effort with the independents he probably has more of a shot than people think.
The beautiful thing about all of this is that each day Sanders delays, Dame van der Cankles’ “inevitability” has to be driving the obnoxiously imperious presumptive nominee crazier than she already is. I know, I know, the MSM keeps saying that Trump is the loon, but I get a serious creep-out vibe whenever I see Hillary:
There isn’t a screen grab or pic of this woman where she doesn’t look like she just ate human flesh. https://t.co/ALL4yWBbzf
