Robert De Niro Shows by Example the Shortcomings of Dropping Out of High School

While attending a conference on world governance in, of all places, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, actor Robert De Niro chose to call attention to the plight of dropouts in the United States.

Sure, that’s not what he said, but De Niro’s comments made it obvious that not only does he lack a high school diploma, but that he’s never done anything to remedy the deficiency in his education and is ignorant of science, politics, and history.

In a stunning display of what could happen to any youth who gathers great fortune by mouthing other people’s lines and showing his good looks but not actually, at any time, learning anything of consequence, De Niro chose to announce that he was visiting from a backward country.

He did this while speaking in a country where talking to international rights groups can get you arbitrarily imprisoned, where prisoners can be tortured, and where:

Federal law No. 28 of 2005 regulates matters of personal status in the UAE, and some of its provisions discriminate against women. For instance, the law provides that, for a woman to marry, her male guardian must conclude her marriage contract; men have the right to unilaterally divorce their wives, whereas a woman who wishes to divorce her husband must apply for a court order; a woman can lose her right to maintenance if, for example, she refuses to have sexual relations with her husband without a lawful excuse; and women are required to “obey” their husbands. A woman may be considered disobedient, with few exceptions, if she decides to work without her husband’s consent.

In 2010, the Federal Supreme Court issued a ruling—citing the penal code—that sanctions husbands’ beating and inflicting other forms of punishment or coercion on their wives, provided they do not leave physical marks.

UAE law permits domestic violence. Article 53 of the UAE’s penal code allows the imposition of “chastisement by a husband to his wife and the chastisement of minor children” so long as the assault does not exceed the limits prescribed by Sharia, or Islamic law.

Since Mr. De Niro – we presume, though we’ll admit we have not seen test results – has an IQ higher than a houseplant, we can’t believe that he would say such nonsensical words about the country that has afforded him such freedom and wealth, while speaking in a country were the word “freedom” is a bitter joke. He must, therefore, have been portraying the dangers of miseducation similar to his own, when he said things like:

…that he was visiting from a “backward” country suffering from “temporary insanity.”

He said that in the country he’s describing, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency suggested last week that global warming may be a good thing for humanity.

“I am talking about my own country, the United States of America. We don’t’ like to say we are a ‘backward’ country so let’s just say we’re suffering from a case of temporary insanity,” he added.

Even Mr. De Niro, with no more than a casual internet search, could, in fact, have found out that the head of the EPA is right.  Every time the Earth has warmed it has heralded an era of prosperity and attainment for the human race. It is the cooling periods that are a problem. It is almost bitterly funny, therefore, that the left has chosen to make a scarecrow of the idea of global warming.

He probably could also have found out that there have been many, many periods of warming and cooling in the history of the Earth, long before the advent of humanity, making it highly unlikely that the minor fluctuations of our present times are caused by anything having to do with humans.

Further, being older than I, surely he remembers when the Earth was going to cool catastrophically, and the only way to stop it was to apply more socialism and give power to the “right” (left) people.

How can he possibly buy, much less proclaim with a straight face, that the way to cure warming is exactly the same way to cure the opposite problem?

More importantly, how could he have added,

…the U.S. “will eventually cure itself by voting our dangerous leader” out of office. He spoke Sunday at Dubai’s World Government Summit.

While speaking in an absolute monarchy, where their bouts of insanity do, in fact, have no cure?

It is, in sum, impossible that Robert De Niro could conceivably be serious in his words, at least if he has enough brain function left to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Therefore we must assume this is a brave and carefully designed performance to display what might happen to a high school dropout who ruinously neglected his own education and presumed to lecture those better educated than himself at world summits. It would indeed be terrible, one must admit, to be as oikophobic, mean-spirited and ignorant as the character he portrayed.

In fact, if we have any problem with Mr. De Niro’s performance, it is that the individual he chose to create for this speech would be too dumb to remember to breathe in after exhaling.
