LA's Dull Election

Being a Los Angeleno for basically all my adult life, I suppose I should comment on our mayoral election, but I find it difficult to have anything to say. The candidates are so routine and their viewpoints so bland, it’s hard to care who wins. At this moment it looks as if Antonio Villaraigosa has a surprisingly strong lead — mega-dull incumbent James Hahn battling it out with only slightly more interesting Bob Hertzberg (at least he admitted there were problems with the educational system) to oppose Villaraigosa in the May runoff. Ho-hum. Maybe next time this guy will move down south again — he did once live in Laurel Canyon — and run here. It would spice things up anyway.
