So just how delusional is Edward Archer, pictured above (and below), the chap who ran up to Police Officer Jesse Hartnett’s cruiser on the streets of Philadelphia and, brandishing a stolen police revolver, unleashed a hail of bullets, wounding Hartnett? Archer, a recent convert to ISIS, said he did it “in the name of Islam.” That’s the shot. And here’s the chaser: according to Jim Kenney (D), the mayor of Philadelphia, Archer is so delusional he only thinks he did it in the name of Islam. Clicking on the macro labelled “Islam has nothing to do with it,” Kenney burbled the tired rejoinder:
“In no way shape or form does anyone in this room believe that Islam or the teaching of Islam has anything to do with what you’ve seen on the screen.”
Is that so, Jim?
Reporting on Kenney’s preposterous response, Breitbart made this amusing observation: “Kenney, a Catholic, received his bachelor’s degree from La Salle University, and it remains unclear where his religious expertise concerning Islam derives from.”
So unclear, in fact, that we may safely conclude that he is just lying, just retailing the tired rejoinder that all spineless politicians emit when jihadists murder people: “It has nothing to do with Islam.” Edward Archer thought it did.
He poked his stolen police revolver through the window of Officer Hartnett’s cruiser and pumped him full of lead “in the name of Islam” because, as a police spokesman put it, he believed that “the police defend laws that are contrary to the teachings of the Quran.”
Similarly, Major Nidal Hasan went on a rampage at Ft. Hood in 2009, screaming “Allahu Akbar” and slaughtering 13 people. But the president of the United States saw no connection with Islam and insisted that the incident was not an example of Islamic terrorism but rather was an unfortunate instance of “workplace violence.” Anwar al-Awlaki, the al-Qaeda mastermind who met his end at the business end of a AGM-114 Hellfire missile, thought Hasan was a Muslim hero, but what did he know?
About Islam, a lot more than Obama administration spokesmen and a lot more than Mayor Jim Kenney.
Here’s the thing: when you encounter a problem, you can never solve it until you are honest about what it is. Islamic murder and terrorism is Islamic murder and terrorism. That may seem like a simple tautology. But at a time when Islamic terrorism can be described as “anti-Islamic activity”
and a chap who pledges allegiance to ISIS and says he shoots cops in the name of Islam is rebaptized as a garden-variety criminal by a tremulous party hack, it’s not a tautology but a bracing dose of common sense. Jim Kenney should resign and let someone who can speak the truth take over.
