Now this is news: an intact spinal column believed to be the property of Willard Mitt Romney has been discovered by anthropologists! As I write, the former governor of Massachusetts and U.S. presidential hopeful is being examined by surgeons and the American electorate to determine whether the missing anatomical structure can be successfully reinserted.
A critical test comes later today when the Muslim Public Affairs Council holds an inquisition, er, “press briefing” to demand that Romney denounce Rep. Michele Bachmann for telling the truth about members of the Muslim Brotherhood exerting influence at the highest ranks of the U.S. government.
Exhibit A in Rep. Bachmann’s brief is Huma Abedin, chief of staff to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a woman with deep and extensive ties to the Muslim Brotherhood — ties, by the way, that include not only her immediate family (father, brother, mother) but Ms. Abedin herself, who from 1996 to 2008 worked as a editor at the Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs. The journal was founded in the 1970s by Abdullah Omar Naseef, head of the Muslim World League, which (as Andy McCarthy explained) is a “Saudi-financed global propagation enterprise by which the Muslim Brotherhood’s virulently anti-Western brand of Islamist ideology is seeded throughout the world, very much including in the United States.”
We are not talking here about some random imam in the dizzying alphabet soup of Islamist entities [McCarthy continues]. In the pantheon of Islamic supremacism, there are few positions more critical than secretary general of the Muslim World League. In fact, one of the MWL’s founders was Sa’id Ramadan, the right-hand and son-in-law of Hassan al-Banna, the Brotherhood’s legendary founder.
So let’s give this “Michele-Bachmann-is-a naughty-witch-who’s-been-beastly-to-the-Muslims” meme a rest. MPAC is a noxious front organization not for loyal Americans who happen to be Muslims but for activist Muslims in America who are bent on undermining American institutions in order to promulgate the hideous freedom-blighting and misogynistic ideology of sharia. Here’s a chance for Mitt Romney to stand up for America. Will he do it?
UPDATE: And for the Doubting Thomases and John McCains among my readers, here’s some corroboratory detail from Andrew Bostom (just in case you thought “hideous freedom-blighting and misogynistic ideology of sharia” was hyperbolic):
* The current (April/May 2012) issue of the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs journal (JMMA) features two essays, introduced with lavish praise by Editor Saleha Abedin, which champion, unabashedly:
* The global hegemonic aspirations of major 20th century Muslim Brotherhood jihadist ideologues, such as the eminent Muslim Brotherhood theoretician, Sayyid Qutb (d. 1966), and Abul Hasan Nadwi (d. 1999)
The more expansive application of Sharia within Muslim minority communities residing in the West, with the goal of replacing these non-Muslim governing systems, as advocated by contemporary Muslim Brotherhood jihadist ideologues, Yusuf al-Qaradawi and Tahir Jabir al-Alwani.
The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), one of America’s largest mainstream Muslims organizations, made an open declaration in its ICNA Member’s Hand Book, calling for the (re-)creation global Muslim Caliphate and the imposition of Sharia law in America.
