Earlier today I wrote about some rays of hoppe on the political landscape in the shape of people like Senator Pat Toomey and Senatorial candidate Richard Mourdock. Alas, those glimmers of hope are now, at least temporarily, overshadowed by the grim news that the Supreme Court has decided to endorse the leviathan that is government unlimited: ObamaCare, at least the core of it, stands by a vote of 6-3. There will obviously be much wailing and gnashing of teeth about this by those who cherish individual liberty and are, like the Founders, suspicious of untrammeled state power. But for now it is appropriate to step back, acknowledge the devastation, and attempt to assess the damage.
