It’s weird to be on vacation and return to your hotel room for tsunami news every night, watching the death toll rise. About fifteen years ago I was on another vacation, this one in Phuket, Thailand. Some friends and I stayed at a fabulous and relatively inexpensive thatched-roof bungalow hotel right on the beach. Paradise. It’s probably not there now.

UPDATE: At first I thought Drudge was inflating the death toll, but every time I think that, it continues higher. 100,000 is the latest figure. Time to do some donating.
