The tiny English town of Piddington, population 350, has just declared independence, and in doing so, has handed President Donald Trump a marvelous opportunity to affirm his agenda regarding immigration, as well as to do his part to try to call shattered, staggering, dhimmi Britain back to sanity.
The longtime residents of Piddington, most of whom have lived there all their lives, as did their parents and grandparents and so on from time immemorial, object to being transformed overnight into a minority that comprises less than a quarter of their hometown’s population. They don’t want to become a minority in their own home any more than anyone else would, including the socialist internationalist rulers of Britain who preach the glories of diversity, multiculturalism, and mass migration from within homogeneous, guarded, gated communities.
And so, as PJM’s Benjamin Bartee noted Wednesday, the vote wasn’t even close to close: “By more than a ten-to-one margin, the residents of besieged Piddington, a village of 350 in Oxfordshire and the proposed host of a site to house 1,250 military-age Third World migrants, have voted to leave the United Kingdom and form a sovereign polity free from the ravages of the Great Replacement to which the Crown has subjected them.”
In response to the vote, the U.K.’s Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy was as condescending as she could possibly have been, saying: “What I would say to the people of Piddington is I think it’s absolutely right and fair that they express their views, and I think it’s absolutely right that the Government listens to those views.”
Translation: There, there, here’s a pat on the head, how plucky and courageous of you all to demonstrate that you dislike what the government is doing to your home! Now that you have expressed yourselves, sit down, shut up, and take it.”
And that’s why the Piddington independence vote gives President Trump such a grand opportunity. While the leftist political and media elites are chuckling at the silly residents of Piddington and their “symbolic” vote for independence, Trump should take them with absolute seriousness.
Trump should take them so seriously, in fact, that he should recognize the Principality of Piddington as an independent state, send an ambassador over there, and have the chief executive of the Principality of Piddington, whom I believe is the parish chairman, Tim McNally, as his guest at the White House for a state dinner. He should treat the Principality of Piddington just as he would France, or Germany, or the U.K. itself, and make it clear that he stands with it in its struggle against the mass migration that the socialist rulers of Britain are using to destroy the nation’s unity, culture, and national character, in order to prepare it to be part of the socialist internationalist megastate they envision.
After all, Trump just spoke Tuesday about deporting migrants: “We brought them back to the countries from where they came. They came from the Congo. They came from all over the — Africa. They came from all over the Middle East, from South America. They came from all over. There was no discrimination. They came from all over. We got them the hell out. And, uh, frankly, the United Kingdom has to do the same thing.” This is where Piddington could come into play in a big way.

Trump continued: “I hate to tell you, they could watch what we've done. And so could other European — you know, I love Europe. My mother was from Scotland, my father was from Germany. Love Europe. I have a natural inclination. And I sort of hate to see what's happening with Europe. I hate to see what's happening on trade. I hate to see what's happening on energy. And I hate to see what's happening on immigration. Woo! That immigration. What you're doing to yourselves, you're just killing yourselves. But, uh, we're going to work with them. And we do work with them.” One way he could work with them would be to recognize the independence of Piddington, and guarantee that independence against any UK government efforts to coerce Piddington to accept the migrants as the town’s new majority population.
The British authorities are doing this to Piddington and other small towns all over the UK because they know that the people in them have no power to fight back. Trump could give them that power and strike a massive blow for the resistance to the left’s efforts to destroy the countries and cultures of the West. Recognize Piddington, Mr. President!
