Linda Sarsour is no longer as high-profile as she once was, but those who remember the rough-and-tumble of a decade or so ago will recall her as a far-left agitator who epitomized the leftist/Islamic alliance by donning a hijab while styling herself as a feminist. She was also never shy about expressing a deep hatred for Israel, and so it comes as no surprise that Sarsour has now resurfaced as a strong supporter of the Marxist, Muslim Israel-hating likely next mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani.
Sarsour has, however, inadvertently revealed what could be the most damaging aspect that has been revealed up to this point about his plans as mayor. That’s not to say, however, that this revelation is likely to hurt his chances of being elected on Tuesday; for many of his supporters, what Sarsour has revealed is an altogether good thing.
Linda Sarsour says the pro-jihadists backing Zohran Mamdani “won’t let him do whatever the hell he wants when he gets to City Hall."

She also bragged she’ll "hold Zohran accountable" to dismantle the NYPD’s SRG counter-terror unit.

In an Instagram livestream on Saturday that Sarsour appears to have taken down but portions of which are still circulating, the veteran leftist announces: “I don’t have a problem with holding people accountable. So voting for Zohran is not, we’re gonna vote for Zohran and just let him do whatever the hell he wants when he gets to City Hall. Our job as a movement is we have to hold whoever goes to City Hall accountable.” And that includes even the media darling and great new socialist hope, Zohran Mamdani.
Sarsour is not quite as enthusiastic about the wunderkind as other leftists have shown themselves to be. “You know,” she says, “I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t really happy about the news that he was gonna keep [Police Commissioner Jessica] Tisch on for the NYPD. So I’ll just say that point blank.” Sarsour would most likely be much happier if Mamdani had held to his earlier calls to defund the police altogether, as both leftists and those who wish to impose Sharia are always happy to take advantage of chaos in order to do so.
Sarsour was, moreover, uneasy about whether Tisch would reliably carry out her Marxist boss’s orders. “And what’s most important,” Sarsour continued, “is that in New York City, the police commissioner works for the mayor. They [sic] are not a separate elected official. So that means if Zohran says to Tisch, ‘You got to do ABC,’ Tisch gotta do what the mayor says. So I’m basically saying to myself, if Zohran’s gonna be the mayor of New York City and he’s going to shut down the Strategic Response Group, the SRG, which is what Zohran has committed to.” Sarsour’s sentence was incomplete, but it was clear enough: she is worried that Tisch might not comply if Mamdani orders her to shut down the SRG.
Why is Sarsour so anxious that Mamdani do away with the SRG? Well, the most likely answer becomes clear once one knows that the SRG is the NYPD’s counterterror arm, and also polices protests. If you think the city is bad now, imagine what it will be like without the SRG.
Sarsour continued: “So if Zohran tells Tisch, ‘We’re shutting down the, you know, SRG, we’re gonna do certain things in a certain way, that means that Tisch has to execute the vision of the mayor. Now, if she doesn’t do that and goes against the mayor, then that’s when we’re gonna have to go to Zohran and be like, ‘You definitely made the wrong decision here. What are you gonna do to hold your police commissioner accountable to the plan?”

What indeed? “If he dismantles SRG,” Sarsour went on, apparently trying to convince herself of the fact by means of repetition, “and he basically orders Tisch to do that, she has to do it.” Later in the video, Sarsour noted that leftist activists would be putting pressure on Mamdani to do their bidding: “Zohran is going to have to tell his own critics that are on the other side, to basically say, ‘Look out that window. Those people outside,’ that ‘these constituents that are outside, these activists, these organizers that are outside, I’m accountable to them, because they’re the ones that helped me get there.’”
So New York City, as Sarsour envisions it during Zohran Mamdani’s mayoral tenure, is not going to engage in counterterror policing or the policing of far-left protests. And a leftist mob will be outside Mamdani’s window, making sure he stays in line. This is what the left means when they talk about “our democracy.” If you live in New York, it’s time to put the condo up for sale.
