Chalk up at least 3 more bodies to the incendiary rhetoric of Black Lives Matter.

Two Baton Rouge police officers and one East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office deputy have been assassinated by a man dressed in black with his face covered, according to eyewitnesses. Four more officers were shot and are in critical condition, according to WBRZ.

Sources say two Baton Rouge Police officers and one East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office deputy are dead following the shooting. Another officer was critically injured. Several others suffered unspecified injuries during the shooting.

A witness told WBRZ News 2, a man was dressed in black with his face covered shooting indiscriminately when he walked out between a convenience store and car wash across from Hammond Air Plaza. Shots were fired around 9 a.m. Sunday. The exact location of the business where the shooting took place has yet to be released.

A very large manhunt began immediately with officers hurrying to contain the scene.

Baton Rouge police have been threatened since the shooting death of Alton Sterling. Thinly veiled threats against the police have been made by demonstrators who claim police are targeting blacks for death.

Police received a call of “suspicious person walking down Airline Highway with an assault rifle,” a source with knowledge of the investigation told CNN. When police arrived, the man opened fire.

The remaining officers are hospitalized in critical condition, the source said.

The victims were from Baton Rouge Police Department as well as East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, another official said.

Since the shooting death of Alton Sterling by Baton Rouge police earlier this month, the department has worried about credible threats against officers.

It’s been an emotionally charged few days across the country because of the protests stemming from the Alton Sterling shooting, and the ambush on Dallas police officers where a sniper killed five officers.

“We can’t take anything for granted any more,” East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux said last week.

After initial reports that the shooter was down, the police are saying that it is still an “active scene.”

BLM is getting exactly what it wanted: not just more dead cops, but the inevitable reaction from police who will refuse to patrol high-crime areas for fear of being targeted. While there will be fewer police shootings as a result, there will also be an increase in black on black crime.

No doubt BLM will blame “white privilege” for that.

(Update)

The number of officers wounded is three, not four as originally reported. Two officers are in fair condition while one remains critical.

One suspect was killed in the shootout. Two more are believed to be at large. Police have taken into custody two men who entered a Walmart dressed in black. There, they changed clothes and got into a silver Nissan with Texas plates.

Police were later able to take them into custody. They are currently being questioned by the FBI.
