Rather than using social media as a notebook, it seemed better to establish a separate optionally accessible site: Signal to Noise. The benefit of a members-only site is it reduces trolling. The Belmont Club will remain open and free, as usual. To keep the length manageable, I will start a new notebook every week or so. Sign up here to become a VIP member.

Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone@ArchCordileone After numerous attempts to speak with Speaker Pelosi to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, an the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion.

Political fatigue
“The Biden administration canceled one of the most high-profile oil and gas lease sales pending before the Department of the Interior Wednesday, as Americans face record-high prices at the pump,” according to MSN. Govt has the idea that investments will flourish in an atmosphere of caprice. One day investors stop showing up.
The post-bipolar world

The UK has its own ideas about the future, guaranteeing Finland and Sweden. Formally termed “A Political Declaration of Solidarity,” the treaty pledges that the UK – a nuclear-armed state and NATO founding member – will intervene to defend Sweden if it “suffers disaster or an attack”… and is expected to sign an identical instrument in Helsinki later today, during his bilateral meetings with Finnish President Sauli Niinistö and PM Sanna Martin.
