A U.S. Congressman Is Trapped in His Home Because of the Hurricane

Saying that “we could not get out unless a helicopter plucks me out of here or I get in my boat and launch it,” Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) told CNN that he was trapped in his Houston area home. He said, “I can’t get out until these floodwaters, until it stops raining and these floodwaters recede.” After the interviewer asked him if he needed help, though, he said, “We’re good here — I’m just one of hundreds of thousands of people in this district and across our state that are being affected by this tropical storm and Hurricane Harvey.” He urged care and highlighted his respect for those suffering or volunteering. What an honorable congressman!
