A Republican congressman who represents the border state of Texas, Will Hurd, told a town hall audience that “building a wall from sea to shining sea is the most expensive and least effective way to do border security.” The audience applauded. So a Texas Republican distances himself from his party’s president on one of his biggest campaign issues, and he gets applauded. Does this mean that the GOP is beginning to rethink the border wall?
