Decked out in white to virtue-signal their #Resistance to Trump, Democratic women sat emotionless as Trump described a horrific Virginia legislative proposal that would allow children to be killed after they are born, and a law recently passed in New York that allows for partial-birth abortion. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) simply smirked as the president described the monstrous procedures.
“There could be no greater contrast to the beautiful image of a mother holding her infant child than the chilling displays our nation saw in recent days,” declared Trump.
Schumer smiled as Trump continued, “Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother’s womb moments from birth.”
“These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and their dreams with the world,” Trump said, as Schumer whispered to the senator next to him.
Trump then went on to describe the barbaric statement by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam this week in defense of post-birth abortions: “He stated he would execute a baby after birth.”
Asked about the REPEAL Act (H.B. 2491) which would legalize abortion even while the mother is in labor, Northam said, “When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of — obviously — the mother, with the consent of the physicians — more than one physician, by the way. And it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus that’s non-viable.”
“If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered,” Northam continued. “The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and mother.”
Trump made it clear that he disagrees with the targeted killings Northam described. “To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb,” he proclaimed, as Republicans cheered and rose to their feet in unison. Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.), one of the few pro-life senators in the Democratic caucus, also rose to signal his approval of the legislation.
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) launched a dual-track legislative process this week in the Senate to expedite the passage of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that would protect children who survive an abortion. If passed, the bill would “prohibit a healthcare practitioner from failing to exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion.”
“Everyone in the Senate ought to be able to say unequivocally that killing that little baby is wrong,” said Sasse in a fiery speech on the Senate floor. “This doesn’t take any political courage. And, if you can’t say that, if there’s a member of this body that can’t say that, there may be lots of work you can do in the world but you shouldn’t be here.”
“You should get the heck out of any calling in public life where you pretend to care about the most vulnerable among us,” he added. “There should be no politics here that are right vs. left or Republican vs. Democrat. This is the most basic thing you could be talking about.” Referencing Northam’s disgusting comments, Sasse said, “We’re talking about a little baby born alive and we have a public official in America defending the idea, ‘Well, you could have a debate about killing her.'”
Sasse called for unanimous consent for the measure, but Sen Patty Murray (D-Wash.) objected, claiming that the measure was unnecessary because there are already laws against infanticide.
As Trump continued his speech, the white-clad women in the Democratic caucus sat stone-faced as he called for an end to barbaric late-term abortions. Rising socialist star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez breezily chatted with her neighbor as the president called for a culture of life in the U.S.
Schumer also smirked as Trump called for an end to human trafficking, as did Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), who shook her head and rolled her eyes as Trump decried the toll trafficking takes on human lives.
“Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life,” Trump concluded. “And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God.”
