Some Little Girls Performed at a Trump Rally and It's Blowing Up the Internet

On Wednesday a group called USA Freedom Kids performed an adorable little song and dance routine at a Donald Trump rally in Pensacola, Florida. The girls, who are three members of a 5-member team, were decked out in red, white, and blue and sang their little hearts out for the GOP presidential candidate.

The song (be warned, you’re going to have it stuck in your head all day) is entitled “Freedom’s Call.” It was released by the group in November and has been in the works for more than a year according to a press release issued by USA Freedom Kids. Jeff Popick, the group’s manager, said it was originally written about General George Patton. However, when he watched Donald Trump announce his presidential candidacy and declare “I will find the General Patton …,” he rewrote the lyrics to make them more “relevant and contemporary.” Here’s a sample:

Cowardiiiiiiiice

Are you serious?

Apologies for freedom.

I can’t handle this.

When freedom rings

Answer the call!

On your feet

stand up tall!

People either really love this video — or they really hate it.

Whatever you think about the performance—personally, I think the girls are adorable—the whole thing does raise some interesting question about whether parents should let their kids participate in this sort of thing. Is it inappropriate to feature kids at political events when they’re really not old enough to understand what the candidates represent or what the stakes are in the upcoming election? Or is a performance merely that—a performance—and we shouldn’t really worry too much about the venue or the other acts on the stage?
