The Censorship Chickens Came Home to Roost

CISA

Almost immediately after the U.S. Military Academy at West Point announced that a former Biden administration official and censorship czar was joining the academy as a “distinguished chair,” the Pentagon fired her. And the poetic justice was beautiful to behold.

In violation of the First Amendment, former CISA head Jen Easterly is accused of coordinating multiple censorship initiatives involving Big Tech, other government agencies, and academic institutions — even a foreign government. Now the desire to silence others has come back to bite her.

Ex-CISA chief Jen Easterly had just been named the Robert F. McDermott Distinguished Chair in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point, but Trump’s Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll, appears to have halted the appointment almost as soon as he learned of it. More of this across our military and federal government, please.

It is rare that powerful elites suffer any serious consequences for their failures and/or crimes. It too often seems that our Republic has become a place where getting a hold of a title — congressman, vice president, governor, secretary, etc. — is tantamount to seizing a permanent “get out of jail free” card. But Easterly’s anti-constitutional activities finally caught up with her, it seems.

I have immediately directed West Point to: 1. Rescind Jen Easterly’s offer to serve as the McDermott Chair 2. Pause outside groups from selecting Academy employees or instructors[.] I have also asked the Chair of the West Point Board of Visitors to conduct a full review of the Academy’s hiring practices.

The Twitter Files, a study from Media Research Center, and the House Judiciary Committee exposed CISA’s key role within the Biden-Harris censorship industrial complex.

For instance, CISA and the National Security Council collaborated with a UK government agency to trade advice on “effective” censorship. CISA was also part of the infamous Election Integrity Partnership that brought together government officials, tech companies, and universities to flag and censor election-related speech both before, during, and after elections in recent years. Easterly, therefore, is directly implicated in election interference on top of First Amendment violations.

The Missouri v. Biden (later Murthy v. Missouri) lawsuit exposed Easterly for apparently suggesting government should work to control people’s minds. “One could argue that we’re in the business of protecting critical infrastructure, and the most critical infrastructure is our cognitive infrastructure,” she said. “We now live in a world where people talk about alternative facts, post-truth, which I think is really, really dangerous if people get to pick their own facts.” It sounds like a sentence from an Orwellian novel. What she really meant was that she and her cronies should be allowed to pick what “facts” they want people to believe.

This woman has no integrity or patriotism, and thus she absolutely should not be teaching cadets at West Point. Good on Driscoll for putting his foot down. Our future military officers deserve better than Biden’s censorship stooge.
