Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley applauded President Trump’s decision to authorize an airstrike that killed Senior Iranian Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani.
According to the Pentagon, Soleimani was behind recent attacks on “coalition bases” inside Iraq.
“Qassem Soleimani was an arch terrorist with American blood on his hands. His demise should be applauded by all who seek peace and justice. Proud of President Trump for doing the strong and right thing,” Haley wrote on Friday.

The airstrike took place in Baghdad early Friday — just days after the attack on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, which the Pentagon said Soleimani had authorized.
“General Soleimani was actively developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq and throughout the region. General Soleimani and his Quds Force were responsible for the deaths of hundreds of American and coalition service members and the wounding of thousands more,” read an official statement from the Pentagon.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo posted a video of Iraqis cheering in the streets after Soleimani’s death.
