WASHINGTON – Actor Jon Voight said President Obama is “covering every false move” made by Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and predicted that GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump will win the election if “God allows truth to be said and heard.”

Voight also praised Trump’s speech at the recent Family Research Council’s Values Voters Summit and said evangelical Christians are behind him.

“I’ve come to know what good is and what bad is and I know I can distinguish who Donald Trump is and who Hillary Clinton is. I feel there’s a dark cloud over the country now and we are all witness to Hillary Clinton’s lies and corruption. We are witness to President Obama covering every false move that she makes and making them appear right, and we are witness to our so-called football heroes that are supposed to set examples for our young children that mock our national anthem,” Voight said during his introduction for Trump at the summit.

“My heart aches watching Donald Trump day after day pouring his heart out telling the American people what he wants to do to save the nation. How can anyone doubt his sincerity? I can only feel if God allows truth to be said and heard that we will see Donald Trump as the next president of this great America and he will lift the dark cloud that hovers over us now,” he added.

Trump told the audience that Christian values of “love, charity and faith” built the nation and pledged to protect the country’s Christian heritage. He said the media “treats people of faith so poorly” and that politicians have “really abandoned” Christians to a large extent.

“So let me say this right up front: A Trump administration, our Christian heritage will be cherished, protected, defended like you’ve never seen before. Believe me,” Trump said.

Following Trump’s speech, PJM asked Voight why he thinks religious conservatives should support Trump in the general election.

“Absolutely. Every American should get behind Trump. We’re in a dark time in this country. As I said in the speech, we see Hillary Clinton’s lies and her bad behavior and we see her being covered by this president,” he said.

“We see a lot of things going on right down the line and we’ve got to have somebody come in and take charge and get back to where we should be, you know, in line with our Constitution and our founding principles and the great work that so many people have done to bring us to this point. But in this last 8 years we’ve suffered a lot, so we need a strong man and he’s a strong guy,” Voight added.

Voight was also asked if he thought Trump should have brought up the issue of abortion, which he did not, during his remarks before a crowd consisting of faith leaders and evangelical Christians.

“All I know is he made a great speech — a great speech. I was very moved by the speech and he was moved to be here so he did the right thing. And I think the standing ovation that he got from the very beginning — they stood at the beginning of the speech and all the way through the end — that shows you they are right with him and he knows exactly what he is doing. He’s the man,” he said.
