On Wednesday, former Grey’s Anatomy actor Isaiah Washington spoke with Fox Nation about his decision to join the “Walk Away” campaign rejecting the Democratic Party. He said he left the Democrats partially because the liberal party isn’t really helping black Americans.
“The reason why I chose to walk away from the Democratic Party … something doesn’t feel right. I’m walking away I don’t know where I’m going, but I know where I come from,” Washington said. “And if I look at the political lineage of the Democratic Party over the last fifty years of my lifetime since I was five and I’m 55. And very little has changed in my community.”
“I have some questions, I’ve got more than questions. Now I have evidence, I have empirical evidence that something is wrong,” he added. “The problem I have with the Democrats is you haven’t done enough.”
Indeed, a recent study found that Democrats represent the worst congressional districts in the country when it comes to black Americans falling behind whites. Robert Johnson, America’s first black billionaire, gave President Donald Trump an “A+” on the economy.
In April, Washington announced he was considering supporting Trump. He said he had voted for Obama twice, but didn’t see progress under Obama. “I voted for 44 twice. I even checked my emails in his Senate Office while lobbying for Salone to be given another chance to rebrand. Not once in 8 years was I given any support regarding Africa or the Black Agenda, but 45 invites me to the WH to celebrate the [First Step Act],” he tweeted.

On Twitter, Washington supported the Legacy Republican Alliance, an organization celebrating the black Republicans who made history and calling on black Americans to consider the Republican Party.
After a tweet storm about the Carthaginian visionary general and leader Hannibal Barca, Washington tweeted about the alliance, saying, “I’m Riding in on ‘this’ Elephant like Hannibal.”
