Beto Moves the Climate Change Goalpost Again: Ten Years Until the Apocalypse

During the second round of Democratic debates on Tuesday, former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) announced that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) is wrong: the world only has 10 years before climate apocalypse, not 12 years. AOC needs to get with the program.

“I’ve listened to scientists on this, and they’re very clear: We don’t have more than ten years to get this right,” O’Rourke said during the debate. He has backed up this claim by discussing the rain in Houston.

This represents an escalation from AOC’s prediction of 12 years before the apocalypse. She claimed to recall that “every climate scientist [has been] warning people we have 12 years left to cut emissions in half before our future is irreversibly damaged.” (Not this climate scientist.)

Of course, ThinkProgress’s Joe Romm and Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo said America only has 18 months — Democrats HAVE to win 2020, you see.

Never mind exactly how long we have — climate apocalypse is coming, people, just elect us and we’ll stop it! Never mind those pesky details like climate models proven wrong, the Maldives refusing to sink beneath the waves on schedule, and the fact that the 97 percent “consensus” is an outright lie.

Damn the facts, full speed “consensus” ahead. THE APOCALYPSE IS COMING! And no one will utter the heresy that it is not…
