There is a lot of stupid in the world. Among the most egregious examples is the racist-to-the-core attack on “cultural appropriation.”
The idea that engaging in something from another culture is somehow racist — and that forbidding certain activities to people of a certain race is NOT racist — may be one of the most bizarre failures of logic humanly possible. But leave it to the race-obsessed Left to come up with that concept.
And leave it to the Left to assault a white woman who refuses to bow to the obscenely racist demand that white women never braid their hair:
A Hampshire College student is facing charges after allegedly assaulting a female basketball player from another school for “culturally appropriating” hair braids.
On January 27, according to court documents, Carmen Figueroa ordered members of the Central Maine Community College basketball team to remove braids from their hair, citing cultural appropriation. Figueroa did not clarify what specifically was being appropriated, or from whom it was being appropriated.
“It is completely wrong to victimize and brutally attack another individual for their hair.”
According to The Hampshire Gazette, Figueroa was charged with disorderly conduct, assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
When the team members refused, Figueroa, along with another student, began a fight with the visiting team, pulling their hair and bringing them to the ground.
Figueroa allegedly stepped on and kicked one of the girls on the ground, according to court documents. Other team members who tried to help their friend were similarly assaulted.
Meanwhile, conservatives and libertarians are supposed to be the violent racists. Remember?
This is just the latest example of how this “cultural appropriation” lunacy has gotten out of hand.
Let me be clear: if a person participates in something created somewhere else, it’s not an insult or an assault on that culture. It’s a compliment. It’s liberty. Or it’s nothing in particular. Populations and individuals migrate and spread ideas, and — at least here in the United States — everyone gets to experience whatever the damn hell they want.
The Romans “borrowed” the Greek gods and renamed them; European orchestral music is popular among Asians; Venice, Italy is filled with Mideast architecture; and Western Leftists absolutely love, love the Hindu tradition of yoga and the Japanese cuisine of sushi.
Figueroa decided to tell a group of people she’s most likely never met before, who wouldn’t know her from a bump on their butt, to submit to her racist idiocy, and then she reacted violently because they stood up for their own liberty. Are those not the actions of an unhinged individual under the influence of an unhinged philosophy? Note that others joined her in the attack.
The left’s embrace of violence to affect change is worrisome, to say the least. Especially when it’s over something as stupid as hair.
Then again, it’s not the first time they’ve done that, either.
