[UPDATED] The Morning Briefing: Squad Goals: Israel Tells Omar and Tlaib What to Do With Their B(D)S

UPDATE: Israel softened up and decided to let Rep. Tlaib visit her grandmother. Tlaib almost immediately proved everything I wrote, about how they’d play the victim card no matter what, true:

Tlaib said Israel’s decision to admit her to the country on “humanitarian grounds” was an attempt to silence and humiliate her.

“I have decided that visiting my grandmother under these oppressive conditions stands against everything I believe in — fighting against racism, oppression & injustice,” Tlaib said on Twitter.

Being right all the time is a burden, but one I gladly bear for you, dear readers.

At this point it is fairly safe to say that “The Squad” — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley –aren’t nearly as interested in representing their constituents as they are in getting publicity for themselves. Because the Left lusts to make the U.S. a dystopian hellhole as quickly as they can, their media mouthpieces are willing to give the Squad girls as many news cycles as they need to feel pretty and popular.

The latest stunt by two of them should get a lot of attention at least through the weekend. After raging anti-Semites Tlaib and Omar were informed by the Israeli government that they and their rabid, frothing hatred weren’t welcome, the two did what they do best: cast themselves as victims.

That is the modus operandi of the Squad and their ilk. Their antics come in a variety of disguises, but the theme is always that they are put upon and oppressed.

These two aren’t garden variety anti-Semitic women, they are both of the foaming-at-the-mouth variety. Omar is so disgusting that the House passed a resolution condemning hate that was prompted by the overwhelmingly negative reaction to comments she made.

She had been in office two months at the time.

The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, explains why this is the right move.

The stunt aspect isn’t even debatable:

“Palestine.” ‘Nuff said.

There are some people on the Right whom I respect who are contending that all of this is playing right into the hands of Omar and Tlaib, enabling them to take another extended turn on the Victim-Go-Round.

Yes, I did say that’s what they wanted earlier. Where I differ with those who say that this was a bad move is in my opinion that they were going to be able to do that no matter which way this went. Again: it’s what they do.

A fatal flaw — especially in the Trump era — of most center-right pundits and pols is the belief that being nice to hateful leftists will somehow help those leftists connect with their better natures and produce a more satisfying outcome.

There has to be a better nature to connect with in the first place for that to happen.

I will state with utmost confidence that, had Omar and Tlaib been allowed to go to Israel, they would have found a way to bring the victim card into play. Affronts, real or imagined, would have been talked about for days, perhaps even weeks.

ONCE MORE, WITH FEELING: it’s what they do.

Based on their actions thus far in Congress, there is absolutely no reason to believe the pair were motivated by anything but the desire to whip up some sinister sensationalism.

Given that, the very best response was to, in no uncertain terms, let them know that they could keep their unbridled bigotry to themselves.

Well, that was certainly cranky of me.

Had Omar and Tlaib gone to Palestine Israel and wanted to stir up some controversy out of thin air, please remember that the MSM would have readily aided their efforts.

At the beginning of the month, The New York Times displeased its Democratic masters by not being mean enough to President Trump. Its masters then promptly and publicly shamed the paper into changing a headline.

The Times hierarchy was so rattled by the reprimand that executive editor Dean Baquet organized a town hall for staffers to ask him questions.

And ask they did:

That was later in the forum. Here was the first question:

I want your help figuring out how to cover this world. I want the input—I need it. So now I’m going to open the floor to questions.

Staffer: Could you explain your decision not to more regularly use the word racist in reference to the president’s actions?

Let that sink in for a minute.

There are people working for The New York Times who think they’re going a little light on calling the President of the United States a racist.

The entire transcript just proves every negative thing conservatives have been saying about the Times for years. If you don’t want to read it, Mollie Hemingway summed it up nicely here:

Rest assured that they would have been more than eager to help craft and deliver whatever victimhood false narrative Omar and Tlaib wanted to get out from Israel.

MY PEOPLE

As I wrap up my second (first full) week here in Briefing Land I would like to thank all of you again. You wacky kids are great and I do appreciate all who are hanging around through the changes. You’re all a lot of fun.

OK, so we have to deal with a few desperate-for-attention trolls and a couple of grammar Nazis (who have been wrong anyway) along the way, but that doesn’t bother me. In olden, pre-social media times they would have been serial killers, so this is working out.

More changes on the way: next week’s briefing will be done French and feature daily interviews with prominent mimes.

The linkage is upon us.
