This may be one of the more ludicrous interludes in the history of American journalism and ironclad proof that media elites are wildly out of touch with those they supposedly serve.

A few weeks ago, RealClearInvestigations revealed the worst-kept secret in Washington: the name of the individual who reported his “concerns” about the president’s call with Ukraine’s President Zelensky. Two dozen prominent conservative news sites have since named Eric Ciaramella, a CIA analyst who worked at the White House, as the person responsible for “blowing the whistle.”

The RealClearInvestigations did what all major non-conservative media won’t do: name Ciaramella as the whistleblower. Despite the fact that you can find his name in less than 15 seconds by doing a Google search, the media has decided that using his name would…do what? Put him in danger? Little late for that. Prejudice other witnesses? Surely, you jest. Respect his privacy? Heh.

The reason the major media in America won’t reveal Ciaramella’s name is because they don’t want to. It may give Republicans an advantage which, in a partisan impeachment inquiry, is what a good Democratic ally like the media won’t do.

Senator Rand Paul is sick and tired of this ridiculousness and is demanding the media name Ciaramella.

The Hill

Paul, speaking in his home state at a Trump campaign rally on Monday evening, referenced unconfirmed reports in conservative media that the whistleblower worked for former Vice President Joe Biden, questioning the person’s credibility.

“We also now know the name of the whistleblower. The whistleblower needs to come forward as a material witness because he worked for Joe Biden at the same time Hunter Biden was getting money from corrupt oligarchs,” Paul said at the rally after President Trump invited him onstage.

“I say tonight to the media, do your job and print his name,” Paul told the crowd to loud cheers.

His comments come after Trump and his allies have been calling for the whistleblower to come forward, arguing that Trump has the right to confront his accusers.

Sebastion Gorka gives a brief rundown of most of what’s known of Ciaramella:

Perhaps the media doesn’t want to explain the whistleblower’s connection to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Heaven forbid the motives of this noble soul be called into question. He’s a hero, don’t ya know.

Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) knocked Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Tuesday for urging the media to disclose the identity of the whistleblower at the center of the House impeachment inquiry.

“I cannot stress just how wrong this is. We have federal whistleblower laws designed to protect the identity and safety of patriotic Americans who come forward to stand up for the Constitution,” Schumer said during a speech on the Senate floor.

He added that he was “appalled” by calls for the whistleblower’s identity to be publicly disclosed.

Schumer should get off his moral high-horse and face facts: Ciaramella’s name is out there. He’s known. We have this marvelous invention that’s been around a while called the “internet” and by gum, the dern thing actually keeps track of stuff like this so that anyone with a 1st-grade education can find the whistleblower’s name. It’s ludicrous that this fiction of anonymity remains.

The media is perfectly willing to reveal the names of serial killers, sexual predators — anyone whose story brings income into their coffers. But a guy whose actions may lead to impeachment needs anonymity? Sheesh.

It’s astonishing that a man who started an impeachment inquiry into a sitting president has a connection to a leading candidate of the opposition party and the media isn’t all over it like white on rice. This is a huge story — potentially. But we aren’t hearing about it because of the protection racket for Democrats being run by so-called journalists.
