Young Gun Owner Tells Beto O'Rourke, 'Hell No, You're Not Taking My Guns'

At a campaign stop in Colorado, Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke was confronted by an emotional gun owner who was adamant about exercising her Second Amendment rights.

Alone, in the midst of a very pro-Beto, anti-gun crowd, the woman bravely faced down the candidate who had recently said, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”

“I’m here to say, hell no you’re not,” Lauren Boebert told O’Rourke about his proposal to seize AR-15 guns from Americans during a town hall in Aurora, Colorado.

“I have four children, I am 5-foot-0, 100 pounds, I cannot really defend myself with a fist,” she said. “I want to know how you’re going to legislate that because a criminal breaks the law, so all you’re going to do is restrict law-abiding citizens, like myself.”

Fox News:

According to the Denver Post, 32-year-old Boebert drove three hours from the town of Rifle to the event and is the owner of a restaurant where the staff carries firearms. As she spoke, a handgun was holstered at her side.

Many in the crowd tried to shout over Boebert as she spoke, but O’Rourke intervened, calling on the audience to be “respectful” and let her speak.

“Self-defense is a right that we have that shall not be infringed in America,” Boebert said.

The former Texas congressman was holding a town hall event in Aurora, where a shooter killed 12 people and wounded more than 50 at a movie theater in 2012. The crowd that assembled was largely supportive of his vow to take guns from law-abiding Americans.

O’Rourke trotted out the tired argument about “bazookas and tanks” that liberals think is a clever riposte to a constitutional argument.

“This doesn’t happen in any other country. There are 329 million of us. There are 390 million guns. No other country has this kind of ratio. No other country allows its citizens to buy weapons that were designed for war. … The logic of your argument is, Why shouldn’t we allow you to have a bazooka or drive a tank down the street?” he answered.

The only “logic” in Beto’s argument is illogic. The answer is, of course, that a bazooka is fairly hard to conceal walking down the street and isn’t useful for self-defense. And who would want a tank in their driveway in the first place?

It’s a strawman argument that goes absolutely nowhere.

Meanwhile, the NRA honored O’Rourke as “Salesman of the month after an “Arizona gun store capitalized on his proposed mandatory buyback of assault weapons.”

The Hill:

Alpha Dog Guns in Tempe, Ariz., announced that just four hours after launching a promotional discount called the “Beto Special” — spurred by O’Rourke’s now-viral comments about his buyback proposal — it sold out of AR-15s and other rifles, owner Matt Boggs said Thursday on “Fox & Friends.”

The NRA tweeted a photo made to mock the former congressman by calling him the “AR-15 salesman of the month,” adding the caption: “Possibly even of the year.”

Democrats have been unleashed. Every secret totalitarian desire they’ve harbored in their breasts has burst forth and been given loving attention in this campaign. Coercive “Medicare for all” health insurance, gun confiscation, confiscatory taxes, wealth transfers — the liberals’ inner Stalin has been set free.

For a growing number of Democrats, Beto O’Rourke can’t quit the campaign soon enough. Both sides agree his rhetoric and ideas have made any gun control legislation problematic. The sooner he’s gone, the better.
